With Mike Hardy of the National Trust

Mike Hardy has been involved in many projects for the National Trust around the Helston area. He will be using his extensive local knowledge to lead this guided walk around Penrose Estate, which should last up to 3 hours and include a picnic break. It will start and finish at Penrose Amenity Area.

With Les Merton

Les Merton was born and bred in Cornwall, and had a true country upbringing in the hamlet of Medlyn Moors between Helston and Falmouth. He began writing poetry at the age of sixteen and his work has been published extensively in the UK and abroad.
These days as well as being the editor of Poetry Cornwall / Bardhonyeth Kernow, Les is very involved with every aspect of writing. He is an author, poet, humorist, dialectician, poetry performer, publisher and promoter.

Country Market

Helston Country Market sells allotment surpluses as well as farm grown produce. The stalls are co-operative and include eggs, plants, preserves, honey, fruit, vegetables, flowers, baked goods and crafts.
This market is part of the Country Markets Hamper Scheme, a simple way to obtain a hamper of home-produced goods, tailor-made to customer requirements and delivered to the door.

Sisters Vanessa Beeman, former Grand Bard, and Shelagh Garrard will be conducting this guided walk around the town in Cornish. The tour is scheduled to last an hour, finishing back at the Sunken Garden.

The Bards will process on to the Gorsedh Field in Penrose Amenity Area where the formal ceremony will take place.

KekezzaTroyl
A cornish ceili with Kekezza

Kekezza are a group of dancers and musicians who have represented Cornwall at major festivals in Wales, Brittany and Asturias, as well as appearing extensively throughout Cornwall. Drawn from the Helston and Redruth area, they have re-energised traditional Cornish dance and music over the last few years.

Paul Phillips is a former mayor of Helston and a member of the Helston Old Cornwall Society. This guided 'walk and talk' will take approximately 1½ - 2 hours and will finish at St. Michael's Church in time for Evensong.
